'Music for Marie' Benefit Rallies Oaklyn for Fowler Family

From 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, the borough of Oaklyn will host an concert to offset the cost of Fowler's medical care.

Friends of the late Marie Fowler, a 2011 Collingswood High School graduate who died of leukemia last month, will host an all-day benefit concert Saturday to celebrate her life and raise funds to offset her medical bills.

"Music for Marie" will close off the 200 block of West Clinton Ave. from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 29. Roughly 30 bands will perform throughout the day both inside Studio Luloo and at an outdoor stage.

Tickets are $5 for kids and $10 for adults. All proceeds will be donated to the Fowler family, who despite their grief, have still been left to bear the financial burden of Marie's care costs.

“There will be music flowing all day,” said Tess McCrindle, a long-time friend of Marie Fowler, who organized the event.

Businesses on the block are getting involved as well. Philly’s Phatties, The Oaklyn Manor and Yummies will provide food and beverages throughout the day, as well as donating a portion of their proceeds.

Marie's friends drew national attention to her final wishes, using social media to connect her with the lead singer of her favorite band, Sleeping with Sirens. After her passing, the band began selling t-shirts on their website, and raised roughly $12,000 for Marie’s family.
