Collingswood Football Team Playing For Playoff Spot Friday Night

Collingswood is in 10th place with a week to go before the playoff cutoff date.

The Haddonfield High School football team is hanging on with one week left before the playoff cutoff date. Meanwhile, Collingswood is in a must-win situation following Friday night’s game.

The Bulldawgs defeated the Panthers, 27-20, according to nj.com.

Both teams are now 5-2, but Haddonfield has 91 power points, and is currently in seventh place in South Jersey Group 2. With 56 points, Collingswood is in 10th place in the group. Eight teams make the playoffs.

Haddonfield quarterback Mike McLaughlin threw four touchdown passes to lead the Bulldawgs to the victory.

Two of his scores came on passes of 23 and 45 yards to Ted Stavetski.

His 41-yard strike to Tyler Klaus opened up the scoring for Haddonfield. That touchdown tied the game at 7-7 after Collingswood scored on a 20-yard interception return for a score by Jahmir King.

McLaughlin’s other score was a 35-yard touchdown pass to Mike DeFeo.

King also scored on an 81-yard touchdown run for the Panthers. Anthony Rivera’s 2-yard touchdown run accounted for Collingswood’s other score.

Haddonfield visit undefeated Paulsboro (7-0) in the final game before the cutoff on Saturday, 11 a.m.

Collingswood hosts Overbrook (2-5) on Friday, 7 p.m.

Playoff matchups will be announced on Nov. 10.

Girls' soccer:

Haddon Township 8, Collingswood 0: Allie Fischer and Kaitlin Stoltz each scored twice to lead the way for Haddon Township. Other goals came from Erin Butrica, Guilia Dunn,  Emily Foley and Cassidy McSorley. Butrica also had three assists.

Goalie Sarah Getzinger made two saves to secure the shutout.
