Collingswood Field Hockey Team Advances to Central Jersey Final

The Panthers will face Haddon Heights for the Central Jersey Group 1 title.

The Collingswood High School field hockey team plays for a championship this week.

The top-seeded Panthers will face No. 2 Haddon Heights in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 1 final, according to nj.com.

The Panthers advanced with a 9-1 win over No. 9 Riverside, followed by a 2-0 win over No. 4 Gloucester City.

Krista LaMaina, Shauna LaMaina and Renee Valianti each scored twice against Riverside. Other goals came from Rachel Galante, Jane Hatzell and Kelly Rodgers.

Krista LaMaina and Shauna LaMaina scored in the win over Gloucester. Goalie Becca Hall made three saves.

Haddon Heights made its way to the final with a 3-0 win over No. 7 Haddonfield and a 2-0 win over No. 3 Audubon.

Boys' soccer

Collingswood dropped a 1-0 decision to Buena in the first round of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 playoffs last week. The 11th-seeded Panthers held No. 6 Buena scoreless in the first half, but eventually fell on a goal by Gary Clarke in the second.
