Collingswood Schools Adjust Calendar for Snow Day Makeups

School will be in session February 14 and June 20 to make up weather-related closings.

The inclement weather that forced Collingswood schools to shut their doors this week will result in two more school days being tacked on to the 2013-14 school calendar.

The calendar carried cushion enough to absorb one snow day, which the district took on December 10. But thanks to the heavy accumulation from January 3 and the time it took to clear the roads January 22, school will be back in session on February 14 and June 20—two days the district calendar had previously blacked out.

New Jersey public schools require students to attend 180 days per year at minimum, a number that Governor Chris Christie said in his recent state of the state address should increase in order to "improve student outcomes and boost competitiveness."
