Reports of a suspicious person caused a stir, but the entire scenario was resolved in less than an hour, authorities said.

and campuses were locked down Thursday morning due to a report of a suspicious person on campus.

Police responded immediately, said Cpl. Tom Hartshaw of the .

"Because there was an unidentified person in the school, the protocol is to lock it down," he said.

When the individual was determined to be a food service employee who was there on a routine delivery, everything went back to normal, Hartshaw said.

Officers were onsite for approximately 17 minutes in total.

The trouble started when a high school student believed the man to be someone with whom she had had a previous legal issue unrelated to the school, said Superintendent Scott Oswald in an email.

"Students and staff responded perfectly and no one was ever in danger," Oswald wrote. "Parents were notified via our telephone alert system."
