Borough Opens Emergency Parking for Residents in Flood-Prone Areas

Collingswood is opening up the Scottish Rite and LumberYard parking areas to residents who fear their cars are in flood-prone areas.

For the duration of Hurricane Sandy, borough officials are opening up the Scottish Rite and LumberYard parking areas to residents whose homes lie in flood-prone areas of Collingswood.

"Please do not park vehicles on the street and stay off roads unless absolutely necessary," reads a statement on the borough website. "Parking is open for all residents in low areas at the Scottish Rite and Lumberyard Parking Garage."

Local, county, and state governments are asking all residents to keep the roadways clear of non-essential traffic so that emergency personnel can do their jobs. Law enforcement officials have the right to divert from the road any vehicle that is interfering with the work of emergency vehicles.
