West Berlin Woman Sentenced in Oaklyn Murder

Shakeysha Pruitt, 25, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the 2013 murder of Kafarr Logan-Horton.

A West Berlin woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison in a 2013 Oaklyn killing, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo announced on Friday.

Shakeysha Pruitt, 25, must serve 85 percent of her term before becoming eligible for parole.

She pleaded guilty in June to aggravated manslaughter in the killing of Kafarr Logan-Horton, 33, on July 28, 2013.

She admitted to going to Logan-Horton’s home on the 200 block of West Clinton Avenue in Oaklyn. They got in an argument and Pruitt admitted to stabbing him with a knife from his own kitchen.

As previously reported, Pruitt met Logan-Horton at his home the day of the incident.

After the stabbing, she drove him to the hospital and left. Initially, she was only regarded as a witness.

After Logan-Horton died a few hours after being dropped off, Camden County investigators tracked Pruitt down and she confessed to the killing.

Pruitt has no previous criminal record.

Logan-Horton was a registered sex offender, according to public documents that say in 2000 he was convicted of underage sexual contact stemming from a 1996 incident in Mercer County. He was 16 at the time.
