Tornado Watch Until 7 p.m., Wind Advisory Until Midnight

Heavy winds and showers have already started in some parts of our area but much nastier weather may be on the horizon.

According to Anthony Gigi, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mount Holly, the entire state is on a tornado watch until 7 p.m. and a wind advisory will remain in effect until midnight.

“I don’t know if it can get any worse,” said Gigi. “It’s not going to snow.”

Winds gusting up to 40 mph and as much as a half-inch of heavy rain are expected as the high temperature approaches 80. Strong winds could fell tree limbs and utility lines.

The worst of the storm should be finished this evening, and Wednesday is expected to be 74 and sunny.
