UPDATE: Hit-and-Run at the Mall

Cherry Hill police apprehended a woman suspected of striking a pedestrian struck on Route 38 Thursday afternoon. Police are still looking for anyone with information on the event.

Update, 7:35 p.m., Oct. 4:

The driver who allegedly mowed down a pedestrian on Route 38 near the entrance to the Cherry Hill Mall early Thursday afternoon has been located, Cherry Hill Police said.

It was only a matter of hours before police said they found , who had fled west down Route 38—the accident occurred just before 2 p.m., and police had him located by 5:30 p.m. Information from the public and numerous media reports helped in finding the driver, police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was in surgery at Cooper University Hospital in Camden as of 6:15 p.m. He suffered severe head and body injuries, police said.

Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who plowed into a pedestrian near the Cherry Hill Mall this afternoon and took off.

The crash happened at 1:55 p.m. Thursday. Police say a white-covered, mid-size vehicle—possibly a Ford—was driving westbound on Route 38 and Mall Drive. The driver struck a man crossing Route 38, and sped off, continuing westbound towards Camden City.

The victim suffered severe head and body trauma. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Police did not have any information on his identity at the time of the incident.

The Cherry Hill Police Traffic unit is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call 856-488-7828 or 856-488-7820.
