A Frugal Ladies' Night Out

Frugal Thrift & Vintage hosts its monthly Fourth Friday Ladies' Night. BYOB, free snacks, 20% discounts, and big fun. Bring your girlfriends and some beverages and raid our closets!

“How about we close the store to guys one night, pour some drinks, and
try everything on?!”

After hearing that idea separately from two of our best customers, Renee Papaneri and Shannon McGill, we said “Let’s do it!” and Frugal’s monthly Ladies’ Night was born.

The idea made sense. We’re all busy. Most women seem to shop between one errand and another. For some, kids are in tow, meaning moms get to shop for exactly two-and-a-half minutes. It’s much easier and more pleasant to find the clothes you need if you set aside the time for yourself.

Ladies’ Night also solves the age-old dilemma: How can I have a night on the town with my girls on a limited budget? On Ladies’ Night, you and a girlfriend can split the cost of a bottle of wine and come to our party. There is a special 20% discount store-wide.

Food aplenty is generously donated by Casona of Collingswood, the Cuban restaurant a few blocks down Haddon Avenue from Frugal, and sweets are donated by our neighbor, The Candy Jar. Retro-style seating and bar carts come from our friends across the street at Dig This, and are also for sale if anything
strikes your fancy.

“But what happens at Ladies’ Night?,” the men ask. Well, it’s exactly as you might imagine: pillow fights, sing-a-longs, makeover montages…okay, not really, but close! We talk in groups, mill around, have some drinks, nosh, and the jokes don’t stop. There has been silly dancing, serious hugs, and "oohs" and "aahs" when someone tries on a garment that fits like it was made for her.

We have everyone from browsers to women shopping for a whole wardrobe and everything in between. We’re happy to answer questions about style and fit and suggest garments that you may not have seen.

What we won’t do is follow you around trying to sell you things. We’re there to help. And drink.

Frugal Ladies’ Night does have one rule though: no negative talk about your body! That’s really important to us. We’re here to tell you that everybody has a “thing” that causes them dressing room angst. EVERYONE.

Finding jeans that fit? Hard. For everyone! You are not alone. The good news is, there is clothing out there that will fit your body. (We want to shout it from the rooftops but there are ordinances against that.)

To keep the space comfortable, we cap the event at 25 to 30 people. We require an RSVP, which you can do on the Frugal FaceBook page. Go to Events, find Ladies’ Night, and click Join.

You can also R.S.V.P. via e-mail (info@frugalresale.com) or in person. Please let us know how many friends you are bringing, if any, so we can get an accurate head-count for Casona. Come and go any time between 6:30 and 9:30pm. Stay for a few minutes or the whole dang night.

For the November Ladies' Night, we had free chair massages with discount massage gift certificates. We are planning other special guests for future Ladies’ Nights including a makeup artist from Verde and a psychic and Angel Card readings.

January Ladies’ Night at Frugal Thrift & Vintage will be held Friday, January 25, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
