The King's Road - A Family Musical
The beloved family musical The King's Road will be performed this fall by Haddonfield Plays & Players in participation with the Haddonfield 300 celebration. Written in 1963 by Haddonfield's own Harry T. Kaufmann the story follows the lives of colonial Haddonfield Quakers as they discover patriotism, fall in love and affirm their faith amidst the intrusion of the British and Hessian armies. A blend of Rogers & Hammerstein with John Philip Sousa, The King’s Road is filled with singing, dancing, marching and merriment. This poignant tribute to the history of Haddonfield has touched hearts and entertained audiences for generations.
The show debuted in 1964 and ran again for the Bicentennial in 1976. This Haddonfield 300 performance will be performed at the Haddon Fortnightly on Oct 3, 4 and 5. The show is directed by Pat DeFusco, an award winning actor and director in regional theatre. Our choreographer is the Broadway credited Renee Liciaga, and we have a full orchestra and an all-star cast under the guidance of the acclaimed musical and vocal director Brian Bacon. Our talented performers are from throughout South Jersey including Haddonfield, Moorestown and Cherry Hill. Children of cast members from the ’76 and ’64 shows are rounding out the chorus.
