Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Santa Claus is comin' to town, but not before Thanksgiving and the start of the Collingswood Cash holiday bonus.

1. Thanksgiving is this week—as if you needed reminding. Remember to start defrosting your gobblers by today, as big birds need at least three days in the refrigerator to properly defrost. And if you're getting an extra free or discounted turkey, consider donating it. . Call first to confirm if your chosen food pantry accepts frozen turkeys.

2. This week kicks off Collingswood's holiday celebration extravaganza. It all starts Friday with the town tree lighting at 7 p.m. Santa drops down from the top of borough hall, thanks to an assist from the Collingswood Fire Department, to light the tree. The holiday fun continues Saturday at 10 a.m. . The parade steps off at Zane Avenue. 

3. Speaking of Kris Kringle, he'll keep a busy schedule this year hearing wish lists from Collingswood's good little boys and girls. The Santa House will be open in front of beginning Saturday, Nov. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. Santa will return every weekend through mid-December. Check out Collingswood Borough's page for a full schedule.
