Verde Salon to Host New Year’s Eve Pre-Party

What better day for celebration than New Year’s Eve?

And celebrate is exactly what Owner Kevin Gatto invites guests to do, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, at his Powell Avenue salon.

But celebrations—including a disc jockey, hors d’oeuvres, a champagne toast and one-day only special salon packages—will run deeper than simply ringing in the New Year.

“Our New Year’s Eve event will be the first official day I can give out samples of my new (beauty product) line, Verde,” said Gatto of debuting his new venture.

Guests will receive free samples of the new Verde products, which include a Wash and an After-Wash—which Gatto coined as a fancier way to say shampoo and conditioner.

“The new line has been in the works since we opened; I always knew I wanted to do something,” said Gatto. “And then an opportunity came up with a lab out in California.”

Gatto said while he’s starting the line small, producing only Wash and After-Wash products, he plans to extend the brand to include many other products.

“The wash is designed to gently exfoliate the scalp, in order to make hair grow out healthier. Because everything starts with a healthy scalp; if you don’t have a healthy scalp, you don’t have healthy hair,” said Gatto of his shampoo. “Wash uses sea kelp and algae to strengthen and revitalize strands. It has a little bit of polish to it, so you really feel that gentle exfoliant when shampooing.”

The After-Wash also features algae and sea kelp, said Gatto.

“The After-Wash formula shuts down the hair cuticle and really hydrates and strengthens the hair strand,” he said of the conditioner. “It can also be left on the hair for up to 20 minutes as a deep-conditioning treatment.”

Gatto said he’ll officially begin selling the line in-house, at , in January.

And that means has more reasons than most to celebrate ringing in the New Year.

"It's going to be really cool, just to see my name on these products," said Gatto. "It's been a dream come true. And this is just the beginning of what's going to be happening next year."
