More Heat This Week

Will we break record highs this week? Find out in the PatchCast for July 16-22.

Well, we had a bit of a break from the heat on Saturday as showers and thunderstorms held temperatures near 80 degrees.

However, the respite was short-lived and the heat returned on Sunday, and it will be even hotter through the middle of the work week. The heat should start to ease by the end of the week and into the weekend.

Today, July 16th, will feature a mix of sun and clouds. It will be hot and humid with a high in the lower 90s. There's a chance of just a few thunderstorms scattered around the Delaware Valley.

Ahead of a cold front on Tuesday, July 17th, it will be even hotter with a high temperature in the upper 90s. Otherwise, look for hazy and humid weather with a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm.

We will make a run at the upper 90s again on Wednesday, July 18th, but if the cold front moves through earlier than expected, it may not get that high. There will be some showers and strong thunderstorms popping up along that front on Wednesdsay afternoon, so plan accordingly for that.

Even though we'll be very hot on Tuesday and Wednesday, I don't think we'll break any records. Tuesday's record high is 102 degrees (1988) and Wednesday's is 99 degrees (1953).

There could be a leftover shower or thunderstorm on Thursday, July 19th, mainly in the morning. Otherwise, it won't be as hot behind the cold front and the high temperature should hold in the upper 80s.

Friday, July 20th, through the weekend looks cooler and less humid with a mix of sun and clouds. Some places may get a shower or thunderstorm on Saturday, but the day certainly won't be a wash-out.

Have a great week and check in with Phillyweather.net for updates on the heat and the storms!
