2011 Town Book Announced, Author to Visit

"Born To Run," this year's Town Book, will bring a special visitor to Collingswood—author Christopher McDougall himself.

In its ninth year, the annual Collingswood Book Festival will return Saturday, October 1—but festival chairs are giving excited fans something to do in the meantime.

Each year before the event, Book Festival organizers choose a Collingswood Town Book, designated as the borough's yearly must-read. This year's title, Born to Run, by Christopher McDougall, is giving an extra-special motive to readers.

McDougall himself will be visiting Collingswood's Book Festival.

"As many know, this is our ninth year of the highly successful (Collingswood Book) festival, an all volunteer-generated event," said Stilley. "We're excited to announce that we have just picked this year's Collingswood Town Book."

And it comes just in time for summer reading.

According to the official press release, Born to Run is a story that reveals secrets behind successful running.

But potential readers should note—one doesn't have to be a runner to enjoy the tale.

Author McDougall's work follows his search for the holy grail of the world's greatest long-distance runners. McDougall's travels take him to Mexico, the realm of an unpredictable tribe comprised of the world's best runners.

The tribe is host to superhuman talents and lost arts, fueling McDougall to challenge members to the race of their lives.

Copies of Born to Run are available to check-out at , located at 771 Haddon Ave. Readers may also purchase their own copy at , located at 825 Haddon Ave.

"Born to Run promises to bring out your inner-athlete, even if it's only from the comfort of your sofa or beach chair," said book festival organizers.
