CamCo Holds Medicare Open Enrollment Session Wednesday

The session will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Camden County Store on the second floor of the Voorhees Town Center.

The following announcement was provided by the Camden County Board of Freeholders.

The Camden County Board of Freeholders, through its Division of Senior & Disabled Services, presents an open enrollment options clinic for Medicare beneficiaries seeking information on health and prescription drug coverage choices.

The session will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Camden County Store on the second floor of the Voorhees Town Center. State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) counselors will be available to help seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries with the enrollment process and to answer any questions.

“It’s time to compare plans and select the right one for you,” said Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Division of Senior & Disabled Services. “If you are unhappy with your current plan, use this open enrollment period as an opportunity to look for a new one with better coverage, higher quality and lower cost.”

Medicare Part D and prescription drug plan open enrollment began on October 15th and ends on Dec. 7, so time is limited for people to make a change. During this open enrollment period, Medicare beneficiaries can sign up for a new prescription drug plan (PDP) or switch their current Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage) program.

“Many of Medicare’s PDP plans change their formularies and prices each year, so it’s possible that the PDP you chose for 2012 won’t be the best one for you to choose for 2013,” Rodriguez said. “Our SHIP counselors can help you make an informed choice.”

Those wishing to attend should call (856) 858-3220 to register as space is limited. You may also call to schedule an appointment with a counselor at the Camden County Division of Senior & Disabled Services, 700 Browning Road, Suite 11, West Collingswood, NJ 08107.
