Haddon Twp. Woman Arrested for Trespassing at Oaklyn Nursery School

Police say 43-year-old Janeen Gramigna entered St. Mark's nursery school without permission Thursday and tried to force her way further into the building.

A Haddon Twp. woman who attempted to force her way into an Oaklyn nursery school was arrested Thursday evening and charged with trespassing.

At 5:12 p.m. on September 12, 43-year-old Janeen Gramigna allegedly entered the St. Mark Nursery School without permission and tried to force her way further into the building, Oaklyn police said.

Gramigna was stopped by a St. Mark’s staff member while another worker at the school secured the children and called police, who removed her from the building. As she was being escorted out, Gramigna also allegedly assaulted the arresting officer.

According to a statement from Oaklyn Police Chief Joseph Abbate, Oaklyn police discovered no motive in the incident, but indicated they believe Gramigna’s actions “could be medically related.”

Abbate did confirm that she did not have any known family or personal connection to any student or staff member at the facility.

A possible second subject, described as a black male wearing red gym shorts and a football jersey, was seen peering into the school window during the incident. Police do not know the identity of this individual.

Gramigna was charged with trespassing, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. She was released on summonses to Kennedy Hospital in Cherry Hill pending a Sept. 19 hearing.

“The police are thankful to the entire St. Mark’s school staff for their quick thinking and actions during this incident,” Abbate said in the statement. 

“Their actions prevented possible injury to the children at the school.
