Vehicle Burglaries, Cab Fare Stiffed: Police Blotter
A vehicle accident on Route 130 sent two people to the hospital, while a cab driver detained a would-be fare-jumper until police could arrive. Plus: more unsecured vehicle burglaries.
Theft of Services At 3 a.m. Jan. 27, officers were dispatched to the C Building at the Heights of Collingswood for an argument among an unknown number of individuals. A taxi service picked up Thomas Ambrose, 27, of Collingswood in the 2700 block of Admiral Wilson Blvd. and transported him to several locations within the city of Camden before taking him home to Heights of Collingswood. When they reached his destination, Ambrose revealed he was unable to pay the $40 cab fare, and attempted to skedaddle, police said. The cab driver, however, tracked him down and detained him until police could arrive. Ambrose was charged with theft of services and released on his own recognizance.
