Meet the 2011 Graduates: Albert Cavallaro

All week long on Patch, meet 2011 top graduates, who Principal Edward T. Hill said represent the very best of Collingswood High School.

Last fall, 18-year-old borough resident and Collingswood High School senior Albert Cavallaro already knew where he'd be headed, post-graduation. That's when Cavallaro was accepted to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) based on his academic credentials.  "(At TCNJ), I plan to major in either English or history, or both," said Cavallaro. "After college, I'm not sure what type of job I'd want to have. I guess I just haven't gotten that far yet." Cavallaro's hardly had time to plan ahead, with the past four years of his life being so busy.  "For Collingswood High School, I've been involved with varsity soccer and tennis, Latin Club, National Honors Society and doing layout and design for Yearbook Club," he said. And through it all, Cavallaro's …

Meet the 2011 Graduates: Randy Watkins

All week long on Patch, meet 2011 top graduates, who Principal Edward T. Hill said represent the very best of Collingswood High School.

Borough resident and 18-year-old Collingswood High School senior Randy Watkins has known what university he’d attend, and which major of study he’d pursue there, since February. “I got accepted to Rowan University early this year,” said Watkins, “where I’ll be majoring in computer science.” Watkins said he discovered his knack for technology in the seventh grade, while working on stage crew for the school theater production. “That was the first time I worked with the light and sound boards, and I liked it right away,” he said. “And I realized I was pretty good at it.” During his second year in Collingswood High School, Watkins was enlisted as an on-site technology aid by school administration.  “The district came to me in 10th grade, and …

Meet the 2011 Graduates: Anna Foote

All week long on Patch, meet 2011 top graduates, who Principal Edward T. Hill said represent the very best of Collingswood High School.

Carrying a weighted—when advanced-level AP courses are factored in—GPA of 4.6, 18-year-old borough resident and Collingswood High School senior Anna Foote was a shoe-in applicant for any university.  Foote was even accepted to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), one of the state's most competitive colleges. But Foote isn’t your average young woman. Her book smarts and sponge-like retention abilities are balanced by an unusually wise dose of common sense. “TCNJ was my first-choice school, and even though I was accepted, I opted not to attend,” said Foote. “Bottom line—I got accepted to TCNJ, but Stevenson offered me more money.”  So off to Stevenson University she’ll go, leaving her Collingswood hometown and settling into the Maryland-based …

Meet the 2011 Graduates: Ron Dunn

All week long on Patch, meet 2011 top graduates, who Principal Edward T. Hill said represent the very best of Collingswood High School.

He may not know his GPA off the top of his head, but Ron Dunn knows he’s received two B’s in the past—the only blemishes  that exist in his entire student career. But amidst the vast sea of A’s that Dunn has accumulated, it’s rather easy to forget about two B’s. And Northern New Jersey-based Kean University did just that, accepting the 18-year-old Collingswood resident and high school senior last month. “I was accepted to Kean for academics,” said Dunn, who will begin his college career Sept. 2. “Once I got in, I contacted (Kean University’s Division III) volleyball coach, and now I’ll be playing volleyball there, too.” Volleyball is something Dunn will carry from high school to college. “I’ve played three sports for Collingswood High …
