At The American Table, "Made in the U.S.A." is more than just a slogan to owner Cyndi Zippilli.
For as much as she enjoyed the ins and outs of business, Cyndi Zippilli never liked being an accountant. Crunching numbers was never as fulfilling as crunching dunkers, her Italian grandmother’s oversized coffee cookies. With a certificate in pastry arts and a Mediterranean love-food emotional connection, Zippilli admits that the spreadsheet game often left her hungry. “I kind of struggled with my career always, not feeling fulfilled,” she said. “There’s a piece of me that always wanted to have my own business.” Wednesday morning represented the culmination of that dream, as Zippilli cut the ribbon on The American Table, the latest retail destination to join the ranks of downtown Collingswood. Collingswood is a gift to open! My favorite current obsession is "The Candy Jar" (http://www.thecandyjarnj.com/). Wonderful aromas wafting out the front door lead me back to childhood memories of similar stores.
