Second Suspect Now Sought in Sunoco Shooting

Footage recovered by Collingswood police reveals that the alleged gunman not only didn't act alone, but didn't give the attendant a chance to comply before firing on him.

Collingswood Police Chief Richard Sarlo did not mince words in offering his opinion of suspects sought in the Sunday evening robbery of a Route 130 gas station that left one man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the leg. "Vicious, cowardly, animalistic—they don't even belong in society," Sarlo told Patch. New details that emerged Monday have not only angered the chief but added more work to his caseload, as surveillance footage from the Sunoco station indicates that the robbery was a two-man job. Two still photos captured from the gas station video camera show what appears to be the gunman, clad in dark clothes and a ski mask, brandishing a firearm at the terrified gas station attendant, who can be seen backing away from him. The third …

UPDATE: Sunoco Attendant Shot in Sunday Night Robbery Attempt

The man was not seriously injured, police believe. They continue to search for the alleged assailant Monday with an area-wide dragnet.

A gas station attendant was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound Sunday evening in what police believe was a robbery attempt gone wrong. At 6:08 p.m., Collingswood police were called to the Sunoco station on Route 130 northbound to investigate. There they discovered the victim, who had been shot in the upper leg. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening. The suspect is reportedly a white male in dark clothing who fled on foot. Police are unsure whether he later escaped in a vehicle, but Chief Richard Sarlo was overheard to say that "99 percent of the time that's what happens." Collingswood police vehicles were patrolling nearby neighborhoods shortly after the…

'Dreadlocked' Gunman Robs Haddon Twp. Dollar Tree

Eyewitnesses say the perpetrator was wearing a wig that he discarded in his escape. No one was harmed.

About 30 minutes before closing time Monday night, a man disguised in a dreadlocked wig stole nearly $1,000 from the Haddon Township Dollar Tree at gunpoint, then fled in a maroon sedan. Nobody was harmed, but the incident stunned a pair of young clerks more so because they’ve seen the man in the store before. “It seems he’s been targeting us,” said Joe, 24, a Haddon Township native, who asked to be identified only by his first name. “We’re all hyped up.” Another clerk, 19, who asked not to be identified*, was working in the front of the shop when it happened. He noticed a man, mid-20s, early 30s, with elaborately bobby-pinned dreadlocks. The clerk had seen the man before, and for some reason, tonight, the recognition made him uneasy. He …

I understand that the news needs to be reported, however was it necessary to put every detail like specific store address and names of employees in the article? This doesn't seem smart to me. I would think twice in the future to see if this would put anyone in harms way next time.   more ›

A male who identified himself as "Brian" lured a Westville man to the basement of a building at Princess Anne Apartments, then beat and robbed him, police said.

According to the victim, the two drank, shot pool, and exchanged phone numbers. They then spoke several times on the phone over the next few days before "Brian" invited the victim to visit him at the Princess Anne Apartments on the White Horse Pike. Five Arrested in Collingswood Carjacking

The adult suspect, Niequan Johnson, is being held on $225,000 bail for a carjacking at the Heights of Collingswood earlier this month.

An 18-year-old and four juveniles are being held in Camden County detention facilities, accused of a recent carjacking and robberies at the Heights of Collingswood apartment complex. Collingswood Police Department’s detective bureau arrested Niequan W. Johnson, who gave addresses in both Camden and Chester, PA, in the incidents. The names of the four juveniles are not being released because of their age. “Detectives were very aggressive in pursuing this investigation and followed a number of leads that led them to (Johnson),” Collingswood Lt. Glenn Prince said. “I give a lot of credit to our detective bureau—they conducted a diligent investigation and because of that hard work, we’ve brought this investigation to a successful conclusion.” …
