Were you at the 2012 Parade of Lights? If not, here's our recap.
Fire engines from companies in the area mustered on Park Avenue, looping around from Zane Avenue to the Post Office, aglow in lights, tossing candy to the kids, and warming residents assembled along Haddon Avenue. The parade was led by the Collingswood Fire Department and other civic organizations, representatives from which came dressed as everything from Sesame Street characters to Jedi knights. Trucks will compete for top honors and prizes, with winners to be named soon. Did you take any pictures from the parade? Share them with us here.

On the first day of Christmas, Collingswood gave to me...30 days of payment-free parking in the downtown shopping district—and that's not all.
Save those coins and card swipes for your neighbors' small businesses, Collingswood, because the borough government is once again providing free street parking throughout the month of December. "Obviously, you can't park in permit areas," said Collingswood Police Chief Richard Sarlo. (Sarlo also added that the borough is "looking at doing some major parking structural changes" involving permitting and hours of operation "in the very near future," so stick with Patch for the latest there.) But that's not all that the Collingswood downtown will offer this holiday season. Extended shopping hours Shoppers can look forward to extended evening hours on Fridays and Saturdays throughout December in a typically festive atmosphere that includes lit …

This Friday, the fire department illuminate the avenue during its annual Parade of Lights.
If the quarter-of-a-million holiday lights strung-up around the borough aren't festive enough, Friday night will be the icing on the cake. From 7 to around 8:30 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 10, Collingswood will take illumination to another level. Collingswood Fire Department's annual Parade of Lights event will begin at the intersection of Haddon and Zane avenues. Those new to the Parade of Lights may wonder where the borough will find an unlit building, tree, pole or sign to string-up more lights—truth be told, there are none. They've all already been covered in holiday lights. So what could the Parade of Lights possibly plan to light up? Covered in thousands of sparkling holiday lights, fire trucks and floats will drive down Haddon Avenue, …
