Jazz Bridge Founder Awarded 2013 Freedom Medal

Suzanne Cloud of Collingswood was one of 21 residents to be recognized by the Camden County Freeholders for her work in support of jazz musicians.

For the past 10 years, Suzanne Cloud has organized the First Thursday jazz concerts in Collingswood.  Last Friday, she was given the Camden County Freedom Medal for her work as the founder and executive director of Jazz Bridge, a local nonprofit that supports jazz musicians in the Philadelphia area. The Freedom Medal is awarded annually to "citizens of Camden County for contributing to the betterment of their community through their unselfish dedication of time and talent...in the continuation of Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream to create a more just and loving community," according to the county website. Jef Lee Johnson Performs at First Thursday Jazz TONIGHT

The BYOB event is $10 ($5 for students) and starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Collingswood Community Center.

The ninth season of the First Thursday Jazz series wraps at 7:30 tonight at the Coillingswood Community Center with guitarist Jef Lee Johnson, bassist Chico Huff and drummer Charlie Pateirno. Ten bucks get you in the door; if you're a student, that's enough for you AND a friend. The event is BYOB, and soft drinks will be provided. The performance is provided in partnership with Jazz Bridge, a nonprofit organization that provides emergency health, housing and legal issues for jazz musicians and their families.
