Courtney Carsillo's Basketball Legacy

With four family members who have gone on to NCAA athletic careers, the youngest in a generation of skilled cagers is playing a key role for the dominant Panthers.

Courtney Carsillo knows a thing or two about what being a successful basketball player entails. She watched her two cousins dominate the game when she was younger. A little later, she got the opportunity to watch her two older brothers do the same. Now it’s her turn. Carsillo is one of the captains of the Collingswood High School girls basketball team, and one of the big reasons the team has been one of the best in the Colonial Conference. At 13-4, the Panthers have positioned themselves to make a serious run in the Group 2 playoffs, something that doesn’t come as a surprise to Carsillo. “When I was a freshman and sophomore, we had a group of us who knew that we were young then, but when we were seniors we would have a good year,” she said…

No Fluke! Panthers Hoops Riding Wave of Confidence

The Collingswood girls' basketball team continues to surprise, improving to 8-1 with a win over Sterling on Tuesday.

With each passing game the Collingswood High School girls' basketball team provides additional evidence that it isn’t just a team that has gotten off to a hot start. The Panthers success is very real, even if caught many people—including the Collingswood players and coaches—by surprise. “We have been doing a lot better than we even thought we would, and it’s a big confidence-booster,” senior Ellie O’Neill said. “I think everyone is working even harder now because we have so much potential and everyone realizes that.” The Panthers made another statement Tuesday night with a 41-34 win over Sterling in Colonial Conference action. With the win the Panthers improved to 8-1 and 5-0 in the conference. Considering the Panthers finished just a game…
