Police Collar Suspected CamCo Carjacker

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office reports that George Myers, 43, of Clementon, was captured after allegedly failing to carjack two more victims Wednesday morning.

The following press release was provided by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. A Clementon man is in custody in connection with a rash of carjackings in Camden County. The suspect, George Meyers, M/43, was arrested in Lindenwold Wednesday morning shortly after attempting two more carjackings. He is charged with two counts of Kidnapping and four counts of Carjacking. Further charges are expected. The first incident took place about 8:40 a.m. on November 14, 2012, in Pine Hill, at West Branch Avenue and Blackwood roads. It is alleged Meyers approached an older driver stopped at a traffic light with a box cutter, got in his vehicle and forced him to drive to North Camden to buy heroin. Elderly Victimized in Nearby Carjackings

Authorities seek a suspect in two recent carjackings of elderly victims near Gloucester Township.

Authorities in Camden County believe the same man is responsible for two carjackings within 10 days of each other in the Gloucester Township area this month. The victims in both crimes were elderly men. On Tuesday, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office released photographs and a description of the suspect in the case in the hopes someone can identify him. The first carjacking occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at about 8:40 a.m., in Pine Hill. The suspect approached the victim's car, which was stopped for a traffic light at West Branch Avenue and Blackwood Road, produced a box cutter and entered the victim's car. The doors on a lot of newer cars automatically lock when you hit 10, 15 mph. I'm guessing these fellas weren't driving such vehicles.   more ›
