Voorhees Standoff Draws Cherry Hill, Gloucester Township Police

A teen barricaded himself inside a home on Burnham Lane Sunday.

Officers from multiple towns were drawn to the Voorhees and Cherry Hill border Sunday for an hours-long standoff that ended peacefully around 4:30 p.m. Hiren and Indira Gala called 911 to report that a teen had violated a restraining order they’d taken out against him, and was in the home, said Voorhees Chief Louis Bordi. Voorhees officers arrived to the Galas fleeing the house. “The suspect barricaded himself and advised he was not coming out,” Bordi said. Several homes on Burnham Lane in the Beagle Club, a residential development off Cooper Road about a mile from the Cherry Hill Township line, were evacuated during the incident, which drew a Special Response Team from Gloucester Township and officers from Cherry Hill to assist Voorhees …

Alleged Credit Card, Check Thieves Strike in Oaklyn, Haddon Heights

Three alleged car burglars who swiped checks and credit cards from vehicles outside of Future Fitness in Cherry Hill are now using their ill-gotten gains to defraud banks, police say.

An alleged team of car burglars who have struck gyms in and around Cherry Hill has a third member, and has been spotted everywhere from South Jersey to Northeast Philadelphia. Police are asking for help in trying to stop them, Cherry Hill Police said Friday. The alleged thieves—two women previously spotted on surveillance, as well as a man—struck at cars outside Future Fitness on Route 70, and have allegedly used checks they stole to commit bank fraud in Haddon Heights and Oaklyn. The suspects have primarily targeted cars where handbags have been left out in plain sight, police said. They’ve used stolen credit cards from those thefts to buy gift cards, police said, traveling throughout South Jersey, including Camden and Burlington counties…

Haddon Twp. Man Charged in Baker Lanes Burglary

Boris Mihov allegedly was found hiding inside the vacant Baker Lanes by Cherry Hill police, and now faces burglary charges.

A Haddon Township man was caught inside Baker Lanes on Wednesday afternoon, said Cherry Hill Police, who were responding to a report of suspicious activity there. Boris Mihov, of the unit block of MacArthur Boulevard, was charged with burglary after Chief Richard DelCampo, Sgt. Chris Branda and Officers Jason Salvatore and Gary DeAlessio found him inside the shuttered bowling alley, which has been vacant since 2011. Authorities were drawn to the location following an eyewitness report of a man climbing through a broken back window at the property around 3:37 p.m. on March 13. Gym Car Burglars Also Committing Bank Fraud, Police Say

Two women who allegedly broke into cars in Cherry Hill have also cashed stolen checks in Oaklyn and tried to do so in Haddon Heights.

Two women who allegedly burglarized cars in the parking lot of Future Fitness early last month are also wanted in Haddon Heights for allegedly attempting to commit bank fraud. The unidentified women tried to cash a stolen check with a stolen New Jersey ID card at the TD Bank on the White Horse Pike on Jan. 31, Haddon Heights Police said, but weren’t successful. The two had pulled off a similar fraud at the TD Bank on the White Horse Pike in Oaklyn only minutes before that, police said. They’re driving a newer-model white Buick LaCrosse SUV with a sunroof, police said, and are switching the license plates on the SUV while committing their alleged crimes. Alleged Burglars Caught in the Act, Lead Police to Collingswood Stash

The pair were apprehended outside of a Cherry Hill home Tuesday, and then led police to a house in Collingswood where a large amount of stolen jewelry was recovered.

A man and woman caught in the act of burglarizing a Cherry Hill home on Tuesday confessed to a string of similar crimes, and eventually led authorities to a Collingswood home where they had stashed a bunch of stolen jewelry, Cherry Hill Police said. Thomas E. Ambrose 4th, 27, of Cherry Hill, and Ashley N. Stanczyk, 27, of Marlton, were caught after a resident in the Colwick section of the township reported that the pair was trying to break into the back door of her Kent Road home, police said. Officers arrived on the scene shortly after the call, which came around 4 p.m., and found Ambrose and Stanczyk still on the home's rear deck, police said. Alleged Sam Ash Guitar Thief, Accomplice Arrested

Martin Cohen, of York, Pa., is accused of smuggling high-end guitars out of Sam Ash Music in his pants. Dora Campbell, of National Park, NJ, is alleged to be his accomplice.

A man who allegedly twice smuggled high-end guitars out of Sam Ash Music in his pants was arrested last week, Cherry Hill Police said. Martin H. Cohen, of York, PA, who police said slipped Les Paul guitars worth $2,800 down his pants, was charged with theft for the December incident. His alleged accomplice, Dora Campbell, of National Park, NJ, was also caught and charged with conspiracy to commit theft, police said. Campbell threw up a smokescreen, distracting a number of store employees while Cohen committed the thefts, police said. Both were served with their complaints and were released, police said.

Nursing Home Patient Found After Going Missing in Cherry Hill

Victor Godoy, 77, was found after a search late Saturday night.

An elderly nursing home patient who went missing Saturday evening was found less than seven hours later in Voorhees, Cherry Hill Police said. Victor Godoy, 77, made it to a family member's home, police said, and was taken to Kennedy University Hospital for evaluation just after midnight. Godoy, who has dementia, left Alaris Health at 1417 Brace Road around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, police said, prompting a search of the area. Godoy had been seen walking north on Brace Road toward the area of Kings Highway and Route 70, police said, and was later spotted at A & S Pizza, near the intersection of North Kings Highway and Ormand Avenue, around 8 p.m., police said. Police: Pregnant Pickpocket Pinches Plastic at Panera

Two suspects allegedly filched a shopper's credit card at the popular bakery earlier this month, and racked up about $1,000 in charges at Wegman's and Best Buy right away.

A pregnant woman and her accomplice stole a credit card from a woman's purse and used it to make fraudulent purchases earlier this month, Cherry Hill Police say. Now detectives are asking for help in identifying them. Surveillance footage shows that the women pickpocketed the card from another shopper's purse at Panera Bread at the Market Place at Garden State Park shopping center around 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1. They didn't waste any time putting it to use. The pair only had to go a few hundred yards to Wegmans and Best Buy, both in the same shopping center, and immediately racked up nearly $1,000 in charges, according to police. Cuthbert Blvd. Burglary Suspects Had Dum-Dum Ammo

Three Philadelphia men arrested in a rush-hour confrontation Tuesday were allegedly carrying a defaced handgun and Dum-Dum bullets they may have used in an attempted burglary.

Three Philadelphia men arrested not far from the scene of an attempted burglary at Bishop's View Apartments Tuesday were reportedly armed with a handgun, the serial numbers of which had been filed off, and dum-dum bullets. Khalil T. Smith, of West Lenox Street, James H. Haines, of North Reese Street and William M. Jefferson, of North Marshall Street, were arrested after the alleged attempted burglary turned into a home invasion, police said.
