Prosecutor's Office Warns of Bad Heroin Batches

Three overdoses at Cooper Hospital on Friday night led Camden County police to believe the drugs have been tainted.

The following was issued by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson are issuing a warning about what may be adulterated heroin being sold in Camden. Three individuals were brought to Cooper Hospital Friday night for treatment for heroin overdoses. Law enforcement is not publicizing where these individuals purchased heroin, but will be testing the drugs to determine the composition. Chief Thomson warned that these overdoses may have been caused by a batch of heroin that included toxic elements that could prove fatal without medical attention.  The Camden County Police Department and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating and attempting to …

Updated: Camden Breaks Murder Record, 59th Killing Reported Friday

A man is fatally shot in the city's Fairview section.

A fatal shooting in Camden's Fairview section Friday morning set a new record for murders in the city, breaking the old mark of 58 set in 1995. Charles Nicholson, 44, of Camden, was shot multiple times as he sat in his car at the Crescent Gardens apartment complex on Independence Road just after 11:30 a.m., Camden County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Jason Laughlin said. By the time police arrived at the scene, Nicholson was already dead. Police were reportedly looking for a short, black man in a brown hooded sweatshirt in connection with the shooting. Ex-Collingswood Man Killed in Camden Fire

Detectives are asking for the public's help to find out who set the fire, ruled an arson.

Update, March 3, 8:46 a.m.: The Camden County Prosecutor's Office identified the victim as Paul Johnson. His family was located and notified of his death Friday night. --------------------- A man with ties to Collingswood and Oaklyn was killed in Camden Friday and authorities are hunting for those responsible. Camden police and the county prosecutor’s office are investigating the case as a homicide by fire and are asking for the public’s help in providing information. A 65-year-old man was found dead in a burned building on the 1200 block of Decatur Street in Camden early Friday morning, the county prosecutor’s office said.
