Sign-Blowing Scofflaws to Pay the Price in Collingswood

'Stop at the sign or pay a fine' is coming for you, drivers who ignore pedestrian safety laws.

The Borough of Collingswood released the following announcement: In an effort to increase safety for pedestrians in Collingswood, well known as a walkable community, officials are kicking off a Pedestrian Safety Initiative in spring 2013. The program, titled “Stop at the sign or pay the fine,” aims to remind drivers that it is imperative to follow pedestrian safety regulations and will crack down on those that put pedestrians and other drivers at risk. The program will focus on stricter enforcement of traffic laws including curbing speeding and illegal U-turns, enforcing full stops at signs and enforcing crosswalk laws and other increased ticketing of violations that put pedestrians in danger. I agree, I cross that intersection at night. I walk fast but a car can turn off Park Ave and be at the intersection before I can cross walking toward Park.   more ›

Collsopoly: It's What You Want to Play!

For ten bucks, you can support the Newbie School with this fundraiser that's bursting with as much charm as the borough itself.

When we initially wrote about the Collsopoly board game in our roundup of Collingswood ephemera making the rounds on eBay, it was a fun surprise to discover that copies of the Monopoly-themed board game—a one-time school fundraiser—still existed, somewhere on the Internet, waiting to be purchased. We didn't actually think there were any of these legendary artifacts still in circulation in town. But according to an announcement from the borough, a limited quantity of these babies are still out there, and one can come home with your for a measly ten bucks.
