Girls Basketball Eliminated; Three Wrestlers Advance

The Collingswood girls basketball team bowed out of the playoffs, while a trio of wrestlers found success in the opening round of regions.

The Collingswood High School girls basketball team saw its season come to a close Wednesday night in a 39-25 loss to No. 3 Cinnaminson in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 quarterfinals. The Panthers were once again sound defensively, holding Cinnaminson in single digits in three of four quarters, but struggled to get into rhythm on offense. Collingswood was outscored 9-2 in the first quarter and never recovered. Ellie O’Neill, who scored her 1,000th point earlier this season, led all scorers with 11 points. Her sister’s Molly and Meghan scored six and five, respectively. Collingswood closes the season 18-10. Three Panthers Earn No. 1 Seeds in District 28 Wrestling Tournament

Collingswood's Mike Campbell, Alex Irwin and John Deaner will be No. 1 seeds in this weekend's District 28 Wrestling Tournament.

The team portion of the wrestling season saw great success for the Collingswood High School wrestling program. Now it is time for the individuals to shine. The NJSIAA released the District 28 Wrestling Tournament seeds, and a host of Panthers wrestlers find themselves in great position to advance to regions. Mike Campbell, Alex Irwin and John Deaner headline the list as No. 1 seeds in their respective weight classes. Campbell (30-5) is the favorite at the 160-pound weight class with Haddon Heights’ Julien Faison slated as the No. 2 seed. The two grapplers met in January with Campbell scoring a 5-2 decision. Irwin (21-5), the No. 1 seed at 138-pounds, has won six-of-seven matches entering the tournament. Deaner (27-6) is the top seed at 220…
