Disney Night at the Pop Shop, Kids Restaurant Week

A look at the week ahead in Collingswood also includes live music performances and a board of education meeting.

On Monday, September 23, The Pop Shop becomes a Disney fanatic's paradise, with Disney-themed trivia, a balloon sculpturist, and information on how to make your Disney vacation a reality. A portion of the proceeds are donated to the Pop Shop Birthday Party Fund, which provides birthday parties at the restaurant for needy children.

Monday is also the second day of Kids Restaurant Week in Collingswood. At participating locations, children 12 and younger can enjoy a three-course, prix fixe menu for $10. The event runs through Friday.

At 7 p.m., parents of children in the Collingswood Public School district can also attend the monthly meeting of the Collingswood Board of Education. Click here to preview the agenda.

On Tuesday, September 24, it's back to school night for parents of Collingswood Middle School children. The event starts at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, September 25 brings with it a support group for male caregivers. Join Mike Newell of LifeSpan Care Management at Collingswood Manor at 7 p.m.; RSVP to Barbara Wrzeszcz, Director of Marketing, at 856-854-4331 x115. Refreshments will be served.

On Thursday, September 26, bring your three-, four-, and five-year-olds for story time at the Collingswood Public Library at 10 a.m. Kids can enjoy stories, crafts, songs, snacks and play time; adults get coffee! Call Carol or Dot at to register for this free event: 856-858-0649.

Then, at 7 p.m. singer-songwriter Kathleen Fowle will perform "Calling Me Home," a concert of faith, at the Most Precious Blood Rectory (White Horse Pike and Magill Avenue). Call 856-854-0364 for tickets, which are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Thursday is also back to school night for parents of Collingswood High School students; it starts at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, September 27, the library will host a story time for 18-35-month=old children at 10 a.m. This program is limited to 12 children and includes simple stories, finger plays, songs, and playtime. Call Dot or Carol at 856-858-0649 to sign up.  

Then, at 7 p.m., you can learn the basics of cake decorating at ExtraordinaryED

Fridays Live at Grooveground will feature a performance from Cold Blue Electric, a four-piece jazz/rock fusion band with area players, at 8:30 p.m.

Need to get out of town this weekend? Saturday, September 28 to Sunday, September 29 is the annual City to Shore Ride for multiple sclerosis. Riders can take on a tailored course ranging from 25-175 miles over the two-day event. Registration and details for the event here.

On Saturday, Camden County volunteers will clean up Cooper River park, with a family picnic and meet-and-greet on the shoreline. The cleanup starts at 9 a.m. and the picnic begins at 12:30 p.m.

When you stop by the Collingswood Farmers Market Saturday morning, bring your wearable and usable clothing, accessories, shoes, linens, handbags, hard toys and stuffed animals to the toy and clothing drive that will benefit the 2013-14 Collingswood High School marching band.

Speaking of the band, its annual home competition will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, as 16 marching bands compete under the lights of the Collingswood High School football field: Barnegat, Cumberland Regional, Oakcrest, Gateway, Woodbury, Pitman, Timber Creek, Audubon, Haddonfield, Southern Regional, Triton, Pemberton, Pennsauken, Gloucester City and Buena, and Collingswood.

Tickets are sold at the gate ($12 Adults and $7 Seniors/Students/Children). Drinks, snacks, and hot food will be available for sale, as will baked goods and a 50/50 raffle.
