Collingswood Calendar: Here Come the Holidays

The season kicks off in style this week with the tree lighting and parade, and then continues into more events for kids and shoppers in town. Preview the action here.

Sign-ups for winter classes at Perkins Center for the Arts kick off on Monday, November 25. Stop by and meet the faculty who teach in Collingswood and
Moorestown. In the meantime, preview the class schedule, which starts January 6, online.

Then, on Tuesday, November 26, it's Collingswood Movie Night. Check out the selections curated by Patch blogger Robert Castle every month in the Collingswood Public Library. The evening kicks off at 6 p.m. with light refreshments, and concludes with a post-film discussion.

After your Thanksgiving holiday calms down, make sure you come out on Friday, November 29, as Collingswood kicks off its holiday season with the annual tree lighting ceremony. The show starts at 7 p.m. and concludes with Santa's descent from the roof of Borough Hall down the Collingswood F.D. ladder truck.

The fun continues Saturday morning, November 30, with the 10 a.m. town-wide holiday parade. The largest in the area, it features marching bands, dancers, stilt-walkers, floats, mummers, live music, and more. Don't miss the 25th anniversary of this spectacle.

After the parade, head over to the First Baptist Church of Collingswood to see the free South Jersey "S" Gaugers Train Show and Stained Glass Window Tour. Children will delight in the model railroad setup while snacking on free cookies and hot chocolate, and making crafts.

Saturday is also Small Business Saturday! Get out and shop your favorite Collingswood businesses, which will have special deals for the holiday season.

Some of the events that day include a Stella and Dot shopping party by Collingswood resident Lesley Sico or a chance to get your headshot taken by Mike Tribulas of Milestone Media at The Factory.

Then, at 7 p.m., Spirit Light medium Tracy Farquhar will host a spirit gallery at the SoHa arts building. At $30 a person, the event will offer a chance for guests to see her commune with spirits.
