Collingswood Calendar: 'A Christmas Carol' Marathon, Rescheduled Community Chorus

Plus: a regular meeting of the Collingswood Board of Education, GMO-free cookie swap, and seasonal events at the Collingswood Manor.

Monday, December 16, the Collingswood Board of Education meets in the All Purpose Room at Zane North Elementary School at 7 p.m. Preview the agenda here.

Tuesday, December 17
, join the Collingswood Community Chorus for the rescheduled presentation of its free holiday concert, "Here We Come A-Caroling," at the Scottish Rite Auditorium. The singing begins at 7:28pm, but come early for the best parking and seats. Call 856-854-6024 for more info.

Earlier in the day, take in a Lunch n' Learn at the Collingswood Manor. Tour the facility, take lunch in the main dining room, and receive a free holiday gift (while supplies last). RSVP to Barbara Wrzeszcz at 856-854-4331.

On Wednesday, December 18, at 3:30 p.m., the Collingswood Manor hosts a book club reading of Skipping Christmas, by John Grisham. Then, come back on Friday, December 20, for a 1 p.m. showing of Christmas with the Kranks.

The Collingswood Manor Book Club normally meets the last Wednesday of each month. Next up will be Jess Walter's Beautiful Ruins, on January 29. Call Mary Moloney at 856-854-4331 x 204 to reserve your spot.

Then at 5 p.m., the Manor will host a support group for caregivers of Alzheimer's patients. The group normally meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month in the Collingswood Manor library. Call Victoria Knight at 856-854-4331 x302 for more info.

Thursday, December 19 brings with it the GMO-Free NJ holiday cookie swap, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Collingswood Public Library. Bring a batch of your favorite non-GMO cookies to share (along with an ingredients list), and leave with a taste of everyone else's. RSVP to GMOfreeNJ@gmail.com. 

At 8:30 p.m. on Friday, December 20, meet up at Grooveground Fridays Live to see world traveler, Megan LuRose perform selections from her albums Life Like A Gypsy, Siren of the Sea, and the bilingual Tan Dulce Como Tu. LuRose's style fuses contemporary folk with jazz, blues, and Latin influences.

On Saturday, December 21, join your neighbors at Dig This (717 Haddon Ave) for a marathon reading of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, starting at 5 p.m. Enjoy snacks and drinks. Stay for as long or as little of the four-to-five-hour reading as you wish.

Sunday, December 22, the Collingswood Manor hosts a Holiday Open House with Santa Claus. Photos with Santa are just $5 from 9 to 11 a.m., and benefit the Manor Fellowship Fund. Cookies, hot chocolate, and carolers will complete the holiday atmosphere.
