When Will the Stock Market Take a Break?

As I've stated many times in the past, no one knows what the stock market is going to do or when it’s going to do it – but you always have to have a plan, a plan that includes an exit strategy.

Having been fortunate enough to be in practice since 1958, I’ve experienced many, many different economic and market cycles. With that in mind, I’d like to bring to your attention, why we feel now is the time to make sure your exit strategy is in place.

1. Investor Complacency – after years of positive stock market gains, is well, too complacent.

2. Large numbers of IPO’s coming to the market (usually at the high of the market).

3. The government will stop its tapering of the money flow sooner rather than later.

4. The economy is less and less responsive and seems to be stalling (look at lack of revenue growth).

5. Emerging markets are looking weaker and weaker.

As I said, nobody really knows what is going to happen, but we are advising our clients to make sure they have an exit strategy in place and adopt a more cautious position until these warning signs get clearer.
