Collingswood Boys' Basketball Wins Season Opener

The Panthers defeated Sterling, 54-52.

The Collingswood High School boys’ basketball team pulled off a two-point win in its season opener at Sterling Friday night.

The Panthers edged the Knights, 54-52, according to nj.com.

Sterling jumped out to a 13-11 first quarter lead and extended that lead to 26-20 at halftime.

The Panthers cut into that lead in the third quarter, and then they outscored Sterling, 22-16 in the final stanza to pull away with the victory.

The Panthers are 1-0 and return to the court Friday at home against GCIT.

Girls’ basketball

West Deptford 28, Collingswood 17: The girls’ basketball team couldn’t muster much offense in its season opener Monday.

Gabby Minnite led the way for West Deptford with 14 points, followed by Samantha Budd with eight.

Morgan McConnell was Collingswood's leading scorer with 6 points, followed by Lauren Glaze with 3. Jane Hatzell and Krista LaMaina each had 2.
