Bad things happen to good people

I have not been online much, a lot of things going on in my private life.

Myself and a friend of mine had been making plans to get out of New Jersey. The PC Crowd, taxes, you name it. I came to NJ back in 1951 as a child, been in and out of here over the years. I watch South Jersey go from an faming community to a very commercial area. I was here before they even built the Garden State Parkway.

Anyhow, my friend who is an ex truck driver in years past and the best friend in my life (she's a lady trucker) had come up with the ideas that we need to find some place where the cost of living is a lot cheaper. About a year ago she had tagged some of her extended family down near Fort Gordon, GA and she went to visit them. When she came back she was all hyped up on moving there. She had come across a place down there where she could buy a used mobilhome and lot rent and utilities for less than the market here for a 1 bed apartment and OWN IT in the process.

Her extended family went to check out the place and it was "as advertised" so she started saving money to get outa Dodge if you know what I mean. On a scale of 1 to 10 this place came in about a 9!

She knows I was disgrunteled about where I was living and told me ot look into this place and I contacted the people there. I had decided that it might be a good break for me as I am now retired, on a fixed income and my income would go farther down there. I've been working over the winter as a snow plow driver for the State of New Jersey and saving every dime I could. Last month I reached my goal dor what I needed to move financially. She already had her money in the bank, and planned on pulling out on April 8th. I can't go until October as my lease on my apartment doesn't end til then. Then I'd move out.

As life has it, sometime bad things happen to good people. The morning of the 9th of April the trailer was packed, she and her Grandson stayed in the empty apartment overnight and planned on pulling out that morning.

I got a telephone about 10 Am that day from her complaing of a massive headache. Who knew a few hours later her Grandson would end up having to call 911 and EMS. She was shipped off to Lady of Lourdes Hospital. It was found that she had an aneurysm, on moving day! At Lourdes it was decided to air lift her to Capital Medical Cneter, Trenton, NJ. Once there it was found out she had 3 of them and they operated on her. Our plans came to a screech and halt at that point.

Since then I have been on a bender to help her, support her and keep all our friends locally and on the Internet of what had happened. Most of them had thought she was headed south and just didn't have the ability to contact anyone. I ended up being the bringer of "bad news" (not sure I liked that).

Since then I have mainly been on Facebook and several other sites where we are known giving updates and information as it becomes available. Needless to say the move is now on "hold" for how long no one knows. She would have been dead in another few hours if her Grandson hadn't reacted. (People need to be able to recognize stroke symptoms).

So the last week or so i have been absorbed in acting as the "communicator" to family, friends, internet friends across the United States. Having gone through a brian bleed myself back in 1996 I know what she is facing.

I decided that I would start a fund raising effort in her behalf as her retirement income and medical insurance will not cover everything. I KNOW! I've been all over the social pages, my Youtube account spreading the word, asking everyone to lend a hand financially. So far its slow going but my Landlord/Attorney who is handling the funds advised me today they had recieved almost $200 today alone, so I'm hoping my pleas for help are not falling on deaf ears. I ahve about 8 videos up on my Youtube Page with updates and notes. You are more than welcome to "look me up".

Anyhow, Granny Trucker came out of "coma" yesterday after the operation and I got a call from her tonight. Her rehab is going to take some time at this point, but we have friends, family and Internet Buddy pulling for her.

Attached is a video talking about her call to me tonight (we are just a couple crazy old truckers), but get a grin and know she just missed being dead.

http://youtu.be/8bbJ0Xuu73Y  There are more videos there too.

So, Im asking you, if you have a few bucks to spare, would you please donate to her cause, she needs a helpin hand at this point. I appreciate your time and interest in this. May God love ya for helping.
