Panthers Blanked at Home on Thanksgiving 28-0

Collingswood wrapped a disappointing, 2-8 season at home on Thursday.

The Collingswood High School Panthers were unable to get anything going against the Sterling Silver Knights Thursday, dropping the annual Thanksgiving Day contest 28-0 against their Colonial Conference rivals.

The loss brings to an end a disappointing season for the Panthers, who finish 2-8.

Although things didn’t go the way the Panthers had hoped in 2012, Collingswood coach Jack McConnell said he was proud of the way his veterans hung in there.

“As bad as things have gone, this core of senior guys never stopped playing,” said McConnell. “They never gave up and we are going to miss them.

One of those seniors was Forrley Gunby, who had the same mindset as McConnell.

“We got a few young kids in some key spots,” said Gunby. “I’m happy how the season turned out—obviously not with the win-loss ratio, but just how we grew as a team.”

Thursday's result bring to an end the fall athletic season at Collingswood. The first winter sports event of the year kicks off Dec. 1 with a varsity wrestling match.
