Workshop: Using the Sustainability Toolkit to Build Healthier Communities

The Citizens Campaign and Sustainable Jersey are hosting a South Jersey regional workshop designed to identify and empower citizens to pursue opportunities to improve the quality of life in their hometowns and to assist in improving the state’s environment.

The workshop, “Using the Sustainability Toolkit: Building Healthier Communities will be Tuesday, October 11th at the Camden County Environmental Center in Cherry Hill from 6pm – 8:30 pm.

The first half of the workshop will be an overview of local opportunities for people to get results in sustainable initiatives they are interested in proposing within their community, followed by an interactive discussion with noted sustainability experts, including Lori Braunstein of Sustainable Cherry Hill;  Cindy Randazzo, DEP Director, Office of Local Government Assistance;  Councilwoman Michelle Gentek of Gloucester Township; and Staci Greenberg, Environmental Commission Member in Mantua Township will moderate.

Attendees to the workshop, will have access to ongoing mentoring and coaching by The Citizens Campaign, particularly ongoing assistance in serving on a designated local Green Team, recruiting people to join Green Teams and other local Environmental boards and commissions, and assistance in the presenting Sustainable Jersey model ordinances to hometown governing bodies and school boards.

The workshop is open to current Sustainable Jersey participants as well as the public.

Sustainable Jersey is a certification program for municipalities that want to go green, save money and take steps to sustain quality of life over the long-term. It is endorsed by the New Jersey League of Municipalities.
