Colonial Conference Football Wrap: Panthers in the Win Column

Collingswood 6, Overbrook 0

After letting an opportunity slip away last weekend against Haddon Township, Collingswood took it down to the wire against Overbrook to notch its first victory of the season.

The Panthers got a fourth quarter touchdown on a pass from Jordan Wallace to Steve Copeland, and that was all they needed in the 6-0 win.

Paulsboro 42, Haddon Township 13

The Red Raiders poured on the offense at home, opening up a 21-6 halftime lead en route to the blowout win over Haddon Township.

Zack Funk threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third, De'Shaun Burgess scored twice and Riseeq Sease added a little excitement with an 81-yard kick return for a score.

Haddon Township found a little drama of its own on a 90-yard TD pass from Jake Campbell to Corson Harder.

Audubon 39, Gateway 12

The Green Wave improved to 2-1 on the season, putting away the winless Gators behind three rushing touchdowns from Kahleil Chisolm. Audubon scored everything in the first three quarters, while Gateway tacked on 12 in the fourth to avoid the goose egg.

West Deptford 36, Haddon Heights 28

The Eagles survived a scare on the road at feisty Haddon Heights, getting a combined 300-plus yards rushing from Connor Smith, Gerald Owens and Josh Cornelius to pull out the victory.

Smith converted a pair of third downs in the fourth quarter to preserve a slim West Deptford lead after the Garnets, led by standout quarterback Dante Pinckney, closed to within two points. Pinckney tossed three TDs in the loss.

Woodbury 49, Lindenwold 0

Alabama-bound Anthony Averett was explosive again at Lindenwold Friday night, racking up 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns and passing for a third as the Thundering Herd blanked the Lions, 49-0.

Averett scored on runs of 36 yards and three yards, and Jeray Denby—who caught an eight-yard TD from Averett—ran for a seven-yard score in the first quarter.

Mark Jenkins’ 37-yard interception return for a touchdown and a safety closed out the wild scoring night for Woodbury, which improved to 2-1 with the win.

Haddonfield 16, Sterling 13

Freshman Drew Tomlinson kicked a chip shot for the game-winning field goal and the Bulldawgs overcame a multitude of turnovers to beat the visting Sterling Knights Friday night.

Haddonfield’s Henry Klaus scored on a five-yard run and Mike DeFeo ripped off an 85-yard kick return, but the Bulldawgs nearly gave it away when Mike McLaughlin had the ball sail over his head on a shotgun snap, allowing Sterling’s Julian Blackshear to recover and score.

But Tomlinson booted the game-winner on fourth-and-goal from the one to get the Bulldawgs even at home and 2-1 on the season.
