Back to school sales are on. Don't wait too long or you'll miss the best deals!

LAPTOPS

Target is offering its lowest price ever on a Gateway 15.6 notebook for $249.99 and the deal is good through Jan. 31, 2013. As an added bonus, if you buy this Windows 7 PC, you can buy Windows 8 Pro for just $14.99.

Save more than $140 at Best Buy when you purchase Laptop Essentials Bundle for $359.99, which includes an HP G Series laptop, 8 GB flash drive, mouse, laptop sleeve and one year of anti-virus software. This offer is good through Aug. 11.

At Staples, students will get a $100 Visa prepaid card when a select laptop is purchased. Must show a student ID to receive card. This offer is good through Aug. 11.

Radio Shack has the Acer 11.6 Laptop with AMD Dual-Core Processor C60 on sale now for $279.99. Radio Shack is also offering no interest on purchases above $300 if paid within 12 months and a $50 gift card on purchases over $300 with you pay with a Shack Card.

CALCULATORS

Calculate your savings at Target with a $90 Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculator preloaded with Cliffs Notes. Offer good while supplies last. Trade in your gently used graphing calculator and save up to $50. See store for details.

BACKPACKS

Toys 'R Us is giving out free lunch kits, valued at $9.99, for each backpack purchased. Backpack prices range from $12.99 to $109.99, so you're sure to find something to fit your budget. Check with merchant to see how long they will be running this special.

At Walgreens, buy one backpack or tote at $10.99 and get one free through Aug. 11.

UNIFORMS

Old Navy has uniform polos on sale for $5 and khakis for $10 online and in stores through Aug. 15 while supplies last.

BINDERS

Staples recycles and you save $2 instantly for each old binder you bring in to be recycled. If that’s not incentive enough, they’ve also got a deal going on that can’t be topped if you need more than one binder. Purchase two 1-inch binders for $13, two 1.5-inch binders for $15 and two 2-inch binders for $17.

COMPOSITION BOOKS

Office Max tops the charts for best deal on composition books—they are free with a $5 purchase. Staples poly cover composition books are on sale for 50¢, six per customer in store while supplies last, valid through Sept. 15.  Walmart's composition books are also on sale for 50¢ through Aug. 11. comes in third for best prices with composition books at 59¢ each.

PENS/PENCILS

$3 for 24 Ticonderoga #2 pencils at Target now through Aug. 11.

$1 for Paper Mate retractable ballpoint rens at Office Max through Aug. 11.

50¢ for a five-pack of Paper Mate mechanical pencils at Staples and 25¢ for two Bic gel pens in black. Offer good through Aug. 11.

TISSUES

Wegman's Club Pack of tissues includes 10 boxes for only $7.99, less than a dollar a box. You will have enough to donate to school and keep your home stocked up.

BASIC SUPPLIES

Only have spare change to spend?

Staples has filler paper only 1¢ with a $5 minimum purchase until Aug. 11, and Scholastic school glue is only 1¢ at Office Max through Aug. 11. Office Max also has binder rulers for only 5¢ and Schoolio poly binders and one-subject notebooks for 25¢ each through Aug. 11. At Toys 'R Us, buy one Crayola product and get one free. Target has many items on sale for only $1 including Sharpie highlighters, permanent markets, sticky notes and RoseArt crayons. Colored pencils are just 49¢ at Target through Aug. 11.

 

In addition to the deals listed above, here are a few other back-to-school tips you don’t want to miss:

  • Starting Monday, Aug. 13, buy more than $100 worth of merchandise at the Moorestown Mall and receive a pack of free school supplies including pencils, two-file folders, a notebook and a drawstring tote. Limit is three per customer per day while supplies last.
  • JC Penney is giving away free haircuts to all kids in grades kindergarten through sixth throughout August. Call 855-JCP-KIDS or stop by the JC Penney Salon for details and make your appointment. 
  • Dell’s "Buy a PC, Get an Xbox" deal is going on again this summer. See website for details and dates. Apple is offering a $100 Apple gift card to students purchasing qualifying Macs through Sept. 21, 2012. Be sure to check websites for details.
  • Don't forget to check your own inventory before heading out to shop. Keep an open mind when shopping—some of the best deals might be found at local grocery and drug stores.
