Township Opens Up Fraud, Waste and Abuse Hotline

Residents can now report government officials they believe are abusing power.

Through a directive issued by Committeeman Samuel Cianfarini, the West Deptford Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Hotline is available for all members of the public who wish to anonymously report government abuse.

At Thursday night’s meeting, Cianfarini explained that the line will be used to give residents a chance to voice concerns—without fear of retribution.

A press release on the hotline states the intention is “to identify situations where fraud, waste, or abuse may have occurred.” It goes on to say that situations of abuse can be defined as the abuse of one’s power as a government official. Cianfarini gave examples—such as a government official driving a company car for leisure.

The line does not have caller ID—residents are urged not to identify themselves when reporting a tip.

Residents only need to provide information on the incident, along with names and any possible evidence to support their claim.

The West Deptford Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Hotline can be reached by dialing 1-856-845-4004, ext. 112. Reports can also be mailed anonymously to: FWA Hotline, P.O. Box 301, West Deptford, NJ 08086.

Hi Tim, Welcome! I'd like to point out above the comment by Jason Wilson is fabricate blatant lie. Bryan checked out the allegation last week and once he confirmed this he removed a similar comment. I have the email from Bryan, or I am sure he will back my claim up. Would you please look into and remove? Thank you in advance!

William, see now...I see it more as Pay to Save. Their professional fees have come well under the fees of previous professional AND their campaign contributions (viewable in Patch archives) have been minimal compared to those of Angelini, Martin, etc to the Democratic campaign funds so there goes your "pay to play" theory. All residents of WD are going to benefit from these saving and the professional finding! All citizen's (R or D) should rejoice that a new professional found the Bank may have mismanaged funds totaling 4.5 million dollars mismanaged funds that we maybe OFF the hook for. So what again is the problem? This is the same professional that saved Rivercove from bankruptcy and yet another tax burden to us. So unless you are just trying to stir the campaign pot-- what again are your gripes? Like I said, Bryan did a full reporting of campaign contributions- search it before you respond. What exactly on the 20 point plan have they "broke"? Maybe some not fulfilled, but broke?

Just for starters they promised not to take campaign contributions from any of their vendors over $300. That was a blatant lie which they broke immediately. Also the professional fees will be way higher this year than they were the previous year. You will not get a penny back of the so called $4.5 million that you initially implied was missing/stolen, then you changed to "misappropriated". Either way the money was spent on the golf course/tennis center and you (Sam) will spend hundreds of thousands in legal fees without getting one cent back. It wont help the residents one bit but it will give the republicans some campaign money from their vendors.
