Moriarty Releases DWI Dashboard Video

Despite having sued for the release of the footage, Patch was not invited to the press conference hosted by the embattled New Jersey assemblyman and his attorney Friday.

State Assemblyman Paul Moriarty and his attorney on Friday released police dashboard camera video of his July 31 DWI arrest, claiming it proves the arresting officer acted improperly, NBC-10 Philadelphia reported

Earlier this week, Moriarty (D-Washington Township) filed criminal complaints against the officer, Joseph Dibuonaventura, alleging the officer committed perjury and official misconduct, filed false police reports, and falsified and tampered with public records. 

, where he previously served as mayor.

In addition to driving while intoxicated, Moriarty also was charged with refusal to submit to a breath test and failure to maintain a lane. 

Moriarty is scheduled to appear in municipal court in Bridgeton on Nov. 8 to answer the charges against him.

NBC-10 reported that Moriarty and his attorney, John Eastlack Jr. held a press conference Friday to discuss the video with the media. 

Gloucester Township Patch was not invited to the press conference. 

. The township had denied Patch's request under the state's Open Public Records Act to release the video. 

A hearing on the lawsuit is scheduled for Nov. 30 before Assignment Judge Georgia M. Curio in state Superior Court in Bridgeton.
