Mayor Speaks About Earthquake

Collingswood Mayor James Maley said no emergency plan has been enacted.

The that hit Virginia today, whose effects could be felt in Collingswood, has evoked no emergency plan or evacuation route, said Borough Mayor James Maley.

Maley said he was working in Glassboro when he felt the earthquake.

"Just because there's an earthquake doesn't mean we have to enact an emergency plan," said Maley Tuesday, about 30 minutes after the effects were felt. "(Collingswood does) have an emergency management plan, which this particular earthquake didn't trigger.

"If (it were more serious), and we had to execute that emergency plan, I'd put in a call and we'd take all emergency precautions," said Maley. "But no injuries or emergencies have been reported today (after this earthquake), so we do not have a plan in action."
