Bridge Repairs in Haddon Twp. Begin Monday

The resurfacing project will improve conditions on the 90-year-old West Park Boulevard bridge but shut it down for three months.

If any part of your regular commute takes you down West Park Boulevard (CR 641) in Haddon Township, you might want to plan an alternate route for the next thee months.

Starting Monday, the Camden County Department of Public Works will begin a 90-day, $273,388 reconstruction project on the West Park Boulevard Bridge that will necessitate closure of the road from Walnut Avenue to Chestnut Street.

Authorities are asking drivers to use Haddon Avenue instead during the construction, which will resurface the roadway and its striping, and add new curbs, handicap ramps and manhole castings. The bridge was originally constructed in 1923.

“This project will create an inconvenience to our residents in the area, but when we’ve finished construction the municipality and the drivers will have a safer bridge and roadway to travel on,” said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, in a press release announcing the repairs.
