VIDEO: Are These the Sunoco Shooting Suspects?

Footage from a gas station robbery in Camden early Tuesday morning may hold some clues about the November shooting of an attendant here in Collingswood.

Video from a gas station robbery in Camden City might hold some answers for Collingswood police in their search for a pair of suspects wanted in the November shooting of a Sunoco attendant here in the borough.

Two men of similar descriptions appear to have shot and injured a 43-year-old man during the robbery of a Citgo Station in the 1900 block of Admiral Wilson Boulevard Tuesday morning.

Footage released by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office shows a pair of masked assailants walking up to two gas station attendants, guns drawn, about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

There is a brief struggle in which one of the men, who was later shot, shoved his attacker to the ground and attempted to flee. His assailant fired back, wounding the attendant in the chest. Authorities say the victim is in stable but critical condition at Cooper Hospital.

The suspects fled in the direction of 19th Street and Admiral Wilson Boulevard, according to a statement from the Prosecutor's Office.

'It looks like the same M.O.'

Jason Laughlin, spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, told Patch that there is nothing concrete linking the two incidents at this time. But there are striking similarities between the two incidents, said Collingswood Police Chief Richard Sarlo.

"It seems like the same M.O., with them having no problem shooting somebody," Sarlo said. "Whether they’re the same people, who knows.

"At first glance it definitely fits my theory of what we’re looking at. Our detectives are going to contact Camden and find out what’s going on with it."

Sarlo said that the shoot-first behavior of both suspects is what troubles him. He says it is uncommon for would-be thieves to discharge their weapons so casually. A gun often "is there as a fear factor, not a true weapon," he said.

"They went out, they grabbed the guy, and they had no problem shooting them," Sarlo said. "Usually in most cases, you don’t see that. They want the money and if they don’t get it, they’re taking off. But these guys have no bones about [using it].

"Hopefully we’ll come up with something soon," he said.
