SUV Demolishes Front Window of Kress Wine

The accident happened shortly before 11 a.m. on the border of Haddonfield and Cherry Hill.

An SUV plowed through the front window of Kress Wine store on Haddonfield-Berlin Road shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The yeasty smell of beer and wine hung heavily in the humid air, as store employees picked through glass shards to mop up the wreckage inside. The left front window was completely destroyed in the crash, as was a display of liquor and beer.

There were no immediate reports of injuries. The store was open at the time; an employee declined to comment.

"A woman with a carload of kids may have turned around to attend to a child and may have left the car in drive and hit the accelerator," said eyewitness Maryann Campling.

The driver walked away from the scene unharmed. Her gray SUV was towed away within 45 minutes of the crash.
