Resisting Arrest—

At 11:37 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Pacific Ave. and Maple Ave.

According to police reports, upon approaching the car, officers requested that the vehicle operator produce a driver's licence and motor vehicle documentation.

The driver was identified as Oronde F. Byrd, a 37-year-old male from Camden City, and reportedly was able to produce everything except a valid driver's license.

As the responding officer returned to his vehicle to prepare motor vehicle summonses, Byrd reportedly exited his own vehicle and fled down Maple Ave. on foot.

To locate Byrd, additional officers were reportedly contacted to establish a police perimeter, and a K-9 unit was called in from Pennsauken Police Department.

Police said the K-9 and its handler responded to the area, at which time they began tracking Byrd's scent to the area of E. Narberth Terrace.

According to reports, Byrd was located in the rear of a residence on the block, and after a brief struggle, was taken into police custody.

While at for processing, Byrd was reportedly found to have two active warrants for his arrest: $1,500 full-cash bail warrant issued from Camden City; and a $250 full-cash bail warrant issued from Collingswood Borough.

According to police, Byrd was charged with resisting arrest, fourth-degree crime, with bail set at $3,500 full-cash.

Police said Byrd was also issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear a seatbelt and for driving with a suspended license.

Byrd was remanded to county jail, said police, pending an 8:30 a.m. court appearance at Camden City's Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court on Thursday, Sept. 15.
