Possession of CDS—

At 3:04 a.m. Sunday, May 1, police conducted a motor vehicle stop at the 1000 block of West Collings Avenue.

According to police reports, the vehicle’s driver was identified as 39-year-old Steven Kaczmarek, of West Deptford.

The vehicle’s front-seat passenger was identified as 41-year-old Sewell resident James W. Snyder Jr., said police.

A computer background check conducted on Snyder revealed three active warrants for his arrest, said police.

Holding a combined bail of $5,120, the three warrants included $5,000 full cash bail from Gloucester Township Municipal Court, $47 from Brooklawn Borough Municipal Court, and $73 from Bellmawr Borough Municipal Court.

Snyder was placed under arrest, and after conducting a lawful search of his person, police said they recovered an unlabeled prescription bottle in his possession.

According to police, the prescription bottle contained a quantity of controlled dangerous substance (CDS). While the nature of its contents could not be disclosed, police were able to confirm it as being prescription medication.

“Responding officers also observed a rock-like substance, purported to be crack cocaine, on the floorboard of the vehicle, on the driver’s side,” said Collingswood Police Lieutenant Glenn A. Prince.

Kaczmarek, the vehicle’s driver, also was arrested.

Once placed under arrest, Kaczmarek and Snyder were transported to Collingswood Police Department and both charged with possession of CDS.

Both men were scheduled to appear in Camden City’s Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 6.

The night of the arrests, police said Kaczmarek was released on his own recognizance, while Snyder was remanded to county jail.

Theft of Service—

At 6:19 p.m. Friday, April 29, police were dispatched to Quality Fuel on Route 130 North to investigate reports of a gasoline theft.

According to police, the incident began when a Quality Fuel service station attendant allegedly dispensed $20-worth of gas into a silver-colored Ford Taurus.

The vehicle's driver then provided payment, reportedly handing the attendant what appeared to be a $20 bill.

“The currency provided by the driver was later found to be counterfeit, a fraudulent version of authentic U. S. currency,” said Collingswood Police Lt. Glenn A. Prince.

Officers reportedly took the counterfeit bill to Collingswood police headquarters.

Police said the case is still under investigation.
