Police Blotter: Drug Possession and DWI

Blotter also includes possession of fake IDs.

Benjamin Sunkett, 25, of Camden, was charged Feb. 15 with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, failure to wear a seatbelt and driving without a license while on the revoked list, following a traffic stop at Dwight Avenue and Route 30 at 2:04 p.m. A passenger in the vehicle, 24-year-old Leroy Riley of Camden, was arrested on unrelated warrants from Camden an Lindenwold municipal courts. Both men were released pending a court hearing. 

Joseph A. Campbell, 23, of Collingswood, was charged Feb. 15 with hindering apprehension for allegedly providing police with a false name during a traffic stop. He was arrested on multiple warrants from Collingswood and Haddonfield municipal courts. He was held in the Camden County Jail in lieu of bail. The driver of the vehicle, Zachary S. Spratt, 19, of Collingswood, was cited for failure to make repairs to a vehicle. 

Kelly L. Dowd, 18, of Collingswood, was charged Feb. 17 with possession of a simulated document for allegedly having a counterfeit driver's license. A person who found a Pennsylvania driver's license at Merrick Road and Lees Lane turned it into police. An officer noticed the driver's license contained two different pictures. Police contacted Dowd, to whom the license allegedly belonged, and she said she bought the fake identification on the Internet for about $100. Dowd also gave police a second fake driver's license in her possession. She was released pending a hearing in state Superior Court in Camden.

Two juvenile males were charged Feb. 19 with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute following a traffic stop at Haddon Avenue and West Narberth Terrace at 3:05 p.m. Police found a large quantity of marijuana, and packaging materials, inside the vehicle. The juveniles were issued summonses and released to their parents. 

Harold Thompson, 29, of Moorestown, was charged Feb. 19 with receiving stolen property and resisting arrest. At 4:10 p.m., police found in the rear of the Princess Anne Apartments on Route 30 a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Spartanburg, SC. An officer observed Thompson open the the trunk of the vehicle. When the officer tried to arrest Thompson, a struggle ensued, and Thompson fled into a nearby apartment, where he was found hiding. Thompson was held in the Camden County Jail on $10,000 bail.

Kimberly Hairston, 33, of Woodlynne, was charged Feb. 22 with driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license following a report of a vehicle striking a house on Champion Avenue at 1:23 a.m. Police said Hairston appeared to be under the influence of an illegal substance. She was taken to an area hospital to provide blood and urine samples.  No damage was reported to the house. Hairston was issued a summons and released to an acquaintance. 

Serafin Rojas, 20, of Camden, was charged Feb. 27 with hindering apprehension for allegedly providing police with a false name during a traffic stop at Haddon and Ferry avenues at 12:35 a.m. Rojas was arrested on unrelated warrants from Camden and West Deptford municipal courts. He was issued summonses for improper maintenance of lamps, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle without a license, having fictitious tags and having improperly tinted windows. He was held in the Camden County Jail in lieu of bail.
