Old Glory Flying Again Over Collingswood [VIDEO]

After a brief hiatus due to repairs, the 50-foot-long flag is once again waving proudly over Haddon Avenue.

It was out of commission for a few months, but the massive American flag that greets drivers on their way in and out of the borough of Collingswood was once again raised Friday.

Amid a stiff breeze, firefighter-EMTs Kevin Ehret and Kyle Jarozynski unfurled the 30-foot by 50-foot flag, which had been decommissioned temporarily for repairs.

"It should fly year-round," Ehret said, but the "colder winds are harder on the fabric," and some tearing is inevitable.

The borough does have a backup flag, Ehret said, which had also been unavailable prior to its being mended. Both should be available as needed in the future.
