Don't Take the Call: Phone Scammers Claiming to be Police

Callers identifying themselves as the 'NJ Police Foundation' are soliciting donations throughout South Jersey.

Area police are warning South Jersey residents of a phone scam involving callers posing as members of police associations.

Callers using the phone number 856-396-9549 have alternately identified themselves as the N.J. Police Foundation, Camden County F.O.P. or Camden County Metro F.O.P.

Police say the scammers claim to be soliciting donations for the purchase of body armor for law enforcement, and stress that there is no such organization as the “N.J. Police Foundation.”
